Answers to commonly asked questions

What to expect and commonly asked questions:

Will I need to be undressed?
-You may undress to your level of comfort, if you are uncomfortable being
fully disrobed, the therapist will work around your undergarment.
The practioner is very conscious of your modesty, and you will be fully
covered at all times, with only the area receiving bodywork being
exposed. The breasts and genitals are NOT worked on during a massage

Should I talk or be quiet during my massage?
- That is completely up to you, however your massage therapist will encourage a quiet space so that you may fully relax and enjoy your session.

What if I am too hot or too cold?
-Speak up! This is your time and you should be completely comfortable. If you are uncomfortable with anything-the music, the temperature, the pressure, just say so and the therapist will make an ajustment. Your therapist always welcomes your feedback.

Should I avoid eating before a massage?
-Yes, please allow at least 90 minutes after eating before you receive a massage.

How often should I receive massage?
- Massage Therapy is most beneficial when it is received on a regular basis. It is the mission of Kear Massage Therapy to provide quality, individualized bodywork to clients while keeping the rates reasonable, so that you may recieve massage regularly rather than just as a "splurge" or "treat".
As you receive massage more frequently, you may find that you become more in-tune with your body's needs, and be more aware when your body is in need of a massage. Listen to your body, it is speaking to you!

What is the difference between Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue Massage?
-Swedish massage is a light-pressure massage that incorporates long, relaxing strokes that soothe tight or overworked muscles, creating a feeling of length in the body.
-Deep Tissue is a deeper pressure and more muscle -specific modality in which other tools such as knuckles, forearms or elbows are used.
All massage treatments are customized and individual, very rarely only one modality is used during a massage. The techniques and modalities used will be based on the clients needs and preferences.

How will I feel after the massage therapy treatment?
- Most people feel very relaxed. Many people feel relief from long-term aches and pains developed from stress, previous injuries, or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity. Because toxins are released through massage, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water following your massage.
